Statement from the International Pride Orchestra

February 26, 2025

The International Pride Orchestra is deeply disappointed by the Kennedy Center’s abrupt reversal of its plans to present our Pride Celebration Concert on June 4th. This concert was designed to showcase LGBTQ+ artists, allies, and drag performers from around the world, and we were excited to partner with both the Social Impact Program of the Kennedy Center and the Capital Pride Alliance on this significant collaboration.

We believe in the power of music to unite, uplift, and inspire change, and we will not be deterred in our mission to celebrate and amplify LGBTQ+ voices. While this moment is disappointing, it strengthens our resolve to create spaces where all artists are seen and celebrated.

We are thrilled to share that the Strathmore Music Center (North Bethesda, metro accessible) has graciously stepped in to host our third annual Pride Celebration Concert on Thursday, June 5th in their beautiful concert hall. We are grateful for the unwavering support of our community and partners, and we look forward to sharing our music and message in Washington, D.C. and beyond.
